The Post-Cinematic Society is pleased to present the Film Is Dead 2007 Festival titled "Dead Film Tells No Lies." This year we continued to exhibit an astonishing variety of digital movies that demonstrate the continuing evolution and aesthetic innovation taking place in the distinct medium of digital movies.

Located in the historic old Putney Theater in Los Angeles, we were bowled over by the number of people who showed up. Over three days, we sold over 1,500 tickets, making this the biggest Film Is Dead festival ever. Thanks to all the fans and supporters of an independent digital cinema.

Thanks also to the digital moviemakers from 10 different countries who contributed their brilliant works that made the festival possible. With a few exceptions, most of the digital movies we exhibited are by young unknown artists, fresh innovators at the avant-garde of this fresh young medium.

We wish to express our gratitude to this year's sponsors:

  • MSI Studios
  • Pixelforest.net
  • The Digital Arts Institute
  • Buford and Tipper Balabakus

Thank you to the Pacific Rim Center for Digital Art for providing the high-definition digital projector, equipment, and dolby surround sound system. The quality of the projection and sound systems this year was absolutely superb, and the acoustics in the theater were great.

At left you'll find a select list of the featured digital movies exhibited this year. For a complete list of all the digital movieworks, please refer to the program available at the event.

Thanks.

- Morris Kline, Event Coordinator
